A Classic Big Ten battle

On a Saturday that isn’t filled with big-time matchups, hopefully this game will live up to the billing as two very solid programs are set to square off.

Neither team is in the Big Ten hunt but I can guarantee you Wisconsin doesn’t want to lose two games in a row, which would drop them to 2-3 on the season. Obviously, Wisconsin would go to a bowl game if it wants, but it might not be the kind its used to at 3-3.

Iowa, on the other hand, can keep its momentum going. This is the kind of team that makes you wish there was a 16-team playoff in FBS college football.

The Hawkeyes lost their first two games, but since then have played well and should they win out, it’d be nice to see what they could do outside of a bowl game against an SEC opponent.

Those games are fun, don’t get me wrong, but still, this game would have a lot more meaning if 16 teams made the playoff. Just saying.

Back to the game…I still like Iowa in this one and I think its momentum turns into an early lead. Mertz and the Badgers battle back but lose a close one in a weird season.
