1. Quick takeaways for Navy

Navy head coach Ken Niumatololo would never make excuses for this season, but the Midshipmen had their share of struggles this season. The Navy had three straight games postponed due to COVID and their own issues with the coronavirus.  When they did play, it was obvious how special former quarterback Malcolm Perry was last season.

Navy struggled at quarterback this season, starting three different players at the position. True freshman Xavier Arline started today running for 109 yards. Arline flashed for the Midshipmen at times and looked like a freshman at others. If Arline is the quarterback next season, the future is bright in Annapolis.

Quick takeaways for Army

The Army Corps showed tremendous mettle playing ten games this season. Usually, the Army-Navy game is the season finale for both teams. However, Army plays the Air Force next week with an opportunity to play for the Commander-In-Chief Trophy.  Army has had their won issues with the quarterback position as well starting six different quarterbacks this season.

It was the Black Knight’s defense that was the deciding factor in this game. Navy was able to convert just one-third down and no fourth downs. The turning point of this game was the goal-line stand in the third quarter. That defense is going to be trouble for the Air Force next week.
