815. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. won 27-21 vs. No. 6 Iowa State (Big 12 championship in Arlington, Tex.). Oklahoma Sooners. player. 8-2. 6

After a 1-2 start, Oklahoma completed the turnaround and won their seventh straight to claim the Big 12 championship in a 27-21 victory over No. 6 Iowa State at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. The Sooners avenged their earlier defeat to the Cyclones as they held on to survive a comeback bid in the fourth quarter. In the process, Lincoln Riley’s team locked down a spot in a New Year’s Six bowl game for the sixth straight year.

Spencer Rattler competed 22 of his 34 passes for 272 yards and a touchdown, and the quarterback added a touchdown on the ground. Rhamondre Stevenson led the rushing attack, finishing just shy of triple digits with 97 yards on 18 carries. Stevenson added four catches for 36 yards. Oklahoma’s defense gave up 79 yards and a pair of rushing scores to Breece Hall, but they also picked off Cyclones passer Brock Purdy three times, including on Iowa State’s last-gasp drive.

Climbing into the College Football Playoff is a stretch for the two-loss Sooners, but they booked a trip to the Cotton Bowl for themselves. That is no small consolation prize, especially given how sour things turned in September and how easily the Sooners could have written off the 2020 season as nothing more than an opportunity for reps in the midst of a pandemic.
