Buffalo is building something

You don’t exactly think powerhouse when you think about Buffalo football, but the Bulls have quietly built a really solid program and have become maybe the top team in the MAC East Division.

The Bulls have won the division in two of the past three years and have also won back-to-back bowl games. I don’t know how many teams have played in two conference title games and won two bowl games over the past three years, but my guess is that it’s not a long list.

And with a number of key players set to return for next season, including Patterson, who is just a junior but could declare for the draft, the Bulls should be a contender again next season.

Kyle Vantrease isn’t an elite quarterback by any means, but he’s only thrown four interceptions compared to 15 touchdown passes the past two seasons and with one of the best running games in college football, his arm hasn’t been needed much.

He will be back and if Patterson is in the backfield, it wouldn’t be a shock to see Buffalo back in the MAC title game.
