Takeaways for Western Kentucky:

This was a disappointing game for the Hilltoppers. However, Western Kentucky and the Hilltoppers are in their second bowl game in a row for the first time since the Jeff Brohm era. The Western Kentucky football program looks to be in a good place under head coach Tyson Helton. Next season, the Hilltoppers do have to replace quarterback Tyrrell Pigrome.

What’s most interesting for the Hilltoppers is how they replace the defense. Western Kentucky has no defensive starters returning next season on defense.

Takeaways for Georgia State football:

The biggest takeaway for the Panthers is the turnaround of the program under head coach Shawn Elliot. During the broadcast, it was intimated that when Elliot took the program over, the Panthers got no phone calls, no emails, no highlight tapes coming into the program. Now they are overwhelmed with interest from players who want to play for Elliot and the Panthers.

The Panthers are in good hands on both sides of the ball. Redshirt freshman quarterback Cornelious Brown IV has the potential to be a transformative player for the Panthers. Georgia State has the opportunity to have an explosive offense for years to come.
