3. Malik Willis was the best athlete on the field

It’s a good thing that the mistake at the end of regulation did not cost the Flames. Because now we can focus on the show that Malik Willis put on throughout the entire game without getting overshadowed.

The Auburn transfer has been great throughout the season. He has had at least two touchdowns in 9-of-10 games this season. All while completing 64 percent of his passes and throwing just four interceptions.

Willis was making plays with his legs all night, finishing with 137 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns. His ability to escape and make defenders miss was the key factor to keeping Liberty ahead for the majority of the game.

Credit to Joshua Mack as well. Despite the brutal fumble at the goal line, he played very well and added another dimension to the Liberty rushing attack. Mack finished with 105 yards on just 14 carries.

Liberty’s offense was very effective throughout the night as they punted the ball just once. Defensively, they struggled big time after the first quarter. They allowed all 34 points in three quarters of play. That plus the four turnovers almost cost them the game. But in the end the better team won this game.
