1. D’Eriq King, QB, Miami

This game will feature some capable future NFL stars excluding the Hurricane defensive ends, who opted out. The Hurricanes are coming into this game with the most electrifying playmaker on the offensive side of the ball in dual-threat quarterback D’Eriq King.

In his one season with the Hurricanes, King has thrown for 2,570 yards, 22 touchdowns, five interceptions and he has a QBR of 151.9. He has also rushed for 520 yards and four touchdowns on 122 attempts.

King’s ability to take control of the field and drive the ball consistently with arm and legs makes him a serious threat. He’s a player who can open up the playbook more for the Hurricanes and make it complicated for opposing defenses to stop. The Hurricanes are ranked 40th in the nation in total yards per game (414) and 34th in passing yards per game (250.8).

King has been a player that has been getting more position evaluations for the NFL draft.

On Dec. 26, King announced that he was returning for his senior season for the Hurricanes.

If the Hurricanes want to get any traction on a defense that’s ranked 33rd in scoring, they must have King make smart reads and win key matchups consistently. While the Cowboys have several playmakers, they can rely on to scoring points, the Hurricanes have mostly King.

This may be a high-scoring game that will call for King to play his best game yet.
