Casey Thompson is the future and present of Texas Football

Coming into the Alamo Bowl, Texas football fans would be sorrowing the loss of Ehlinger. The liklihood of him leaving for the NFL is becoming more and more prevalent. After watching two quarters of Thompson, Longhorn fans aren’t worried about the future.

At one point in 2019, Thompson put his name into the transfer portal. The Longhorn faithful are happy he pulled his name out as he dazzled in the second half. Replacing Ehlinger, his final stat line was 8/10 170 yards and four touchdowns.

Texas has had a consistent spree of bowl wins and that has created optimism for the upcoming season. That season would be considered a “bust”. by Texas standards. With the amount of youth that made plays, especially in the second half, is exciting. The future of Texas looks to be more clear. The question is whether they can live up to the hype again.
