Ole Miss offense saves the day

The Rebels came into this game without their top three leading receivers and their starting running back. Lane Kiffin and company did not back down despite losing all of that production.

The two receivers who stepped up were Dontario Drummond and John Rhys Plumlee, as they both combined for 11 catches and 183 yards. Plumlee made the biggest play of the day with a 44-yard catch and run to set up the Rebels inside the Hoosiers’ 10 yard line. Drummond would then cap off the drive with a tightly contested go ahead TD reception.

Matt Corral finished off a good season with a mistake free performance in Tampa. He finished with 342 yards and two touchdowns. If he can mitigate his mistakes in 2021, he has the ability to lead this Ole Miss offense to great things.

The offensive line did a great job in not allowing pressure only allowing two sacks for just a loss of five yards. As for the running game, the wealth was spread out. Henry Parrish led the way with 17 carries, but Snoop Conner averaged 7.2 yards per carry and picked up the only rushing touchdown for the Rebels.

The offensive weapons plus the up tempo scheme of Kiffin put Ole Miss football fans in position to enjoy fireworks throughout the 2020 season. The new motto in the SEC seems to be good offense beats good defense.

If Ole Miss continues to improve from here in recruiting, it is not a stretch to see them as one of the better teams in the SEC in 2021.
