Ohio State football: 3 reasons Buckeyes will beat Alabama for national title
1. Justin Fields
Nick Saban is 6-2 in national championship games. Nobody comes better prepared to the big game than Saban and it takes a lot of things to go right for the other team to even have a chance. One of the things that you must have to beat a Saban-coached team in the national championship is an elite quarterback.
In the two championship games that Alabama has lost under Saban, Deshaun Watson and Trevor Lawrence had all-time performances and carved up the Crimson Tide defense. Justin Fields is the kind of talent at the position that it takes to win the national championship against Alabama.
Fields will have to play the best game of his career to beat Alabama and it is likely going to have to be done in a shootout. Alabama is nearly unstoppable on offense and Ohio State’s defense has not been the best all season.
The Buckeyes were able to exploit some weaknesses on Clemson that don’t exist on Alabama that and that helped them to have success on defense.
It takes elite quarterback play to even challenge Alabama and Ohio State has that in Fields. We will see Monday night if he is up to the challenge.
