College Football Playoff: 3 Players to watch, Alabama vs Ohio State
By Dante Pryor
Najee Harris has improved as much as any player in college football
The Ohio State defense has a decision to make. Either the Buckeyes sit back and play zone in an attempt to keep everything in front or bring pressure to move quarterback Mac Jones off of his spot. If the Buckeyes decide to sit back and drop eight in zone coverage and leave the box vulnerable, running back Najee Harris could have another big game.
Harris has improved his game every season he’s been in Tuscaloosa. Harris has become a better blocker against the blitz and receiver. Most importantly, Harris has become a punishing runner. As a freshman, Harris would bounce and dance around the hole. Now, the California native has become a one cut and go runner who seeks to deliver the first blow.
That is important because Harris can take advantage of the box when the Crimson Tide has the number’s advantage. Najee does not have an issue with taking 3-5 yards before hitting a big gain. If the Tide decide to play coverage, Harris has become a legitimate threat as a receiver. Harris’ performance against Florida in the passing game is proof of how dangerous he can be at receiver.
Harris is going to have every opportunity to be a deciding factor in the outcome of the game.
