Ja’Tavion Sanders

This past season, Texas football struggled at times to pressure the quarterback as the Longhorns finished with just 15 sacks in 10 games. However, with top edge rusher Joseph Ossai headed to the NFL to play next season, the Longhorns will have an even bigger need for sacks.

In fact, they won’t have a singe player on the roster returning who got more than two sacks last season which is where top recruit Ja’Tavion Sanders comes in.

Sanders is the No.  21 overall player in 2021, the No. 1 athlete and third-ranked player in Texas. The 6-foot-3, 223-pounder according to his 247 sports profile, could play on either side of the ball but Texas football will likely use him on defense.

Over the last two seasons, he has 20.5 sacks and more than 40 tackles for loss in high school and he’s just an elite player on the edge.

His run defense may need some work, but he’s going to make an impact rushing the quarterback next season and my bet is that he leads the Horns in sacks.
