3. Dave Doeren, NC State head coach

Dave Doeren is the current NC State head coach and was someone that was of interest to Tennessee in their last coaching search. He has been at NC State since 2013 and has amassed a  55-46 record while coaching the Wolfpack.

Before NC State, Doeren had a very successful run at Northern Illinois, where he went 23-4 and led the Huskies to a berth in the Orange bowl versus Florida State in 2012.

Doeren is known as a good developer at the quarterback position and did a good job with Ryan Finley during his early tenure with NC State and he is the current backup for the Cincinnati Bengals. Devin Leary was off to a hot start for the Wolfpack this season before going down with an injury.

There were rumors that Doeren was fired up about the Tennessee job opening last time around and he might just take it this time if offered.
