Quarterback

Starter: Bryce Young

Backup: Paul Tyson

Alabama is going to have to replace Mac Jones, who just had one of the best seasons for a quarterback in the schools history.

The guy that is slated to replace him is Bryce Young, who was the top ranked dual threat quarterback coming out of high school. Young has a ceiling that is as high as any quarterback in the country and it will be fascinating to see how new offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien utilizes Young’s immense skill set in the offense.

The battle for the backup job is going to be between Paul Tyson and incoming freshman Jalen Milroe. Tyson is a more traditional pocket passer, while Milroe presents a more athletic option at the position.

I’ll give the edge to Tyson due to his familiarity with the program.  While Alabama might say that this will be an open competition between all quarterbacks, it is Young’s job to lose and everyone should expect to see him vs Miami in September and become an instant Heisman contender.
