Georgia Football: Way-too-early 2-deep depth chart projections for 2021
Secondary
Starting cornerbacks: Kelee Ringo, Jalen Kimber
Backups: Nyland Green, Ameer Speed
Starting safeties: Latavious Brine, Lewis Cine
Backups: David Daniel, Christopher Smith
This is going to be the most questioned unit on the Georgia Bulldogs next season.
They were already dealing with the losses of Tyson Campbell, Eric Stokes and Richard LeCounte to the NFL, but UGA was taken by surprise when Tyrique Stevenson decided to transfer back home to play for Miami. Stevenson was slated to be the leader of the secondary next season and his departure is a pretty big loss. The Bulldogs are not lacking talent in the back end of their defense however.
Former five-star corner Kelee Ringo will be asked to step up in a big way. Ringo had to deal with injuries last season, but he has immense talent at the position. Jalen Kimber played well in the Peach Bowl and should be the leader at the corner position.
The safeties will be manned by Latavious Brine and Lewis Cine who had an up and down year last year, but he should be better and will need to be. How this unit plays could be the difference on whether Georgia is going to the college football playoff or not.
