Linebacker

Starting Will Linebacker: Baylon Spector

Backup: Keith Maguire

Starting Mike Linebacker: James Skalski

Backup: Kane Patterson

Starting Sam Linebacker: Mike Jones Jr.
Backup: Trenton Simpson

This unit got a big boost when middle linebacker James Skalski decided that he would return for his sixth season, taking advantage of the free year of eligibility that the NCAA provided because of the pandemic.

Skalski was very important to the defense and his absence was felt when he was injured. Baylon Spector looked like he took a big step forward last season and he should be even better this year.

A couple of guys that everyone should watch will be Trenton Simpson and incoming freshman Barrett Carter. Simpson was a five star recruit and could make an impact on the field this year.

Carter was one of the highest rated linebackers this past recruiting cycle, but it will be hard to see the field with the experience that is in front of him.
