He will improve the QB position

If there is one thing you can just about guarantee Heupel will do with Tennessee, it’s improve the quarterback play and his resume really speaks for itself.

Not only was he able to find really good players on the recruiting trail, he was able to develop them. He worked with Drew Lock at Missouri, Jordan Love at Utah State, McKenzie Milton and also helped Sam Bradford win the Heisman back in the day.

And while Tennessee football has had a number of different issues over the years, not finding a quality quarterback has been one of them.

It’s hard to win when you can’t really recruit or develop solid players at the game’s most important position, especially in a conference like the SEC.

The Vols haven’t had a quarterback throw at least 20 touchdown passes since Joshua Dobbs did it back in 2016, which was also the last time Tennessee had a nine-win season and finished in the top 25 and my bet is that Heupel changes that and quickly.

And his work with quarterbacks alone should have Tennessee fans excited. But don’t forget about his offensive track record as a whole.
