The iconic video game franchise re-named EA Sports College Football is going return to gaming consoles for the first time since the 2013 season.

The news that every college football-loving gamer has finally arrived. EA Sports has announced plans to revive the iconic NCAA College football franchise, although it’s now known as EA Sports College Football.

When the game launches, it will be the first time since 2013 that EA Sports released a college football title. Denard “Shoelace” Robinson was the last college football player to grace the game’s cover, which was available on PlayStation, Xbox, and various other platforms.

In 2014, former UCLA All-American Ed O’Bannon successfully sued the NCAA over the name, image, and likeness policy. That effectively shut down the franchise, until now, that is. Some logistical issues need hashing, and there is much we don’t know — like the release date. EA Sports could wait until NIL comes through or college football’s possible separation from the NCAA.

Because of the unknown, we imagine a fall of 2021 release date. Through the years, the cover has been as crucial to the game as the game’s control. EA Sports has not followed a specific motif when it comes to the cover. First released in 1993 as Bill Walsh College Football, the legendary coach graced the cover. Since then, school mascots, band members, and iconic school helmets have graced the cover.

What would the cover be this if the game were released this fall? These would be five possible game covers if EA Sports College Football released a 2021 version.
