Dominant in the trenches

A lot fans might get caught up in the quarterbacks and the receivers like Devonta Smith and obviously, there’s a good reason for that. But week in and week out, the key to winning consistently in the SEC is dominating in the trenches — on both sides of the ball.

And while there is plenty to like about Texas A&M’s 2021 class such as Eli Stowers, a 6-foot-4 215-pound quarterback who ranks seventh among dual-threat passers and 168th overall, the best part it what the Aggies did near the line of scrimmage.

Johnson is a dominant running back and Shadrach Banks is a big-time wideout at 112th overall and even Brian Thomas Jr., another top-100 recruit could be added at wide receiver.

Still, the haul up front is freaking impressive.

Shemar Turner out of DeSoto, Texas is a beast inside and the No. 3 defensive tackle, as well as the No. 21 player overall. Tunmise Adeleye out of Katy, Texas was another huge land as the No. 38 player overall.

Adeleye is 6-foot-3, 245-pounds and one of the top pass rushers in this class, which will be key after Texas A&M graduated five defensive starters in 2020.

Of the Aggies’ top seven ranked recruits, six of them play offensive or defensive line. Texas A&M added two top-100 offensive lineman in Bryce Foster, also out of Katy, Texas and Reuben Fatheree out of Richmond, Texas.

In all, Texas A&M football signed five defensive lineman ranked in the top 203 and seven lineman total on both sides.
