3-star linebacker Kobe King (No. 421 overall)

Two of the biggest gets in this recruiting class for Penn State football were going into Detroit and landing Kobe and Kalen King.

Kobe King is a 6-foot, 223-pound inside linebacker out of Detroit Cass Tech and even though his brother is rated higher and as a four-star prospect, there seems to be more of an opening for King at linebacker.

King also doesn’t have to necessarily play on the inside, so he could provide depth at multiple spots. He’s a good tackler and a tough kid. It’s also easy to look at him and say that he’s ready to be a Big Ten football player.

The Nittany Lions need to improve on defense and the secondary is part of that, but Kalen King, a four-star corner, will have to duke it out with some other corners who played well last season such as Joey Porter Jr. and Keaton Ellis, not to mention Tariq Castro-Fields.

I’ve always thought Kobe was a bit underrated and he will show that next season by working his way onto the field, even if he doesn’t start right away.
