After their big win over Washington, Michigan will stay in Ann Arbor and get ready to face another foe from the MAC. This time it will be the Northern Illinois Huskies and they will be looking to pull off a big upset against the Wolverines. Like Western Michigan, Northern Illinois is one of the more consistent teams in the MAC and they are not usually a pushover. This could be a trap game for the Wolverines with the game being placed right after the Washington game, but I think that the Wolverines will stay focused and get the win at home over the Huskies.

Final Score: Michigan 42, Northern Illinois 17 (3-0)

The Wolverines will close out their September slate with their Big Ten opener versus Rutgers, in what was both a miserable and wonderful game last season. One of Michigan’s two victories last season was on the road against Rutgers last season and that is where Cade McNamara started to show that he might be the Wolverines best hope at quarterback for the future. McNamara had a great game in New Jersey last fall and should have a repeat performance.

Greg Schiano made a triumphant return to Rutgers last fall and exceeded expectations by winning a few games and remaining competitive in most. Schiano has won at Rutgers before and should have a solid program there again soon. He won’t be catching anyone by surprise this season and Michigan should win this game comfortably.

Final Score: Michigan 41, Rutgers 20 (4-0, 1-0 Big Ten)
