Notre Dame Football: Way-too-early 2021 game-by-game predictions
Notre Dame will get to open their season in primetime against Florida State in Tallahassee. The Seminoles are still rebuilding under head coach Mike Norvell and will hope that a slew of transfers that were brought in are able to provide leadership and help develop the young players on the roster.
The big transfer that is coming in for the Seminoles will be former UCF quarterback McKenzie Milton who was a fantastic starter back in 2018, but a severe leg injury has kept him sidelined ever since and that makes his impact tough to project.
Even if Milton plays like his former self, I think that Notre Dame is more talented and well-coached than Florida State. This game could get ugly if Milton is not ready to go and the Seminoles turn the ball over. I like Notre Dame by two touchdowns here.
Final Score: Notre Dame 34, Florida State 17 (1-0)
After a road opener versus Florida State, Notre Dame will come home to face Toledo, who is usually one of the better programs in the MAC.
The Rockets are usually pretty explosive on offense and can move the ball, but the bad thing is their defense is usually not very good. Notre Dame should be able to get Kyren Williams going early on in this one and ride his big performance all the way to a big victory in the home opener.
Final Score: Notre Dame 48, Toledo 20 (2-0)
