1- Wide Receiver: Jordan Johnson

If you follow Notre Dame football at all you probably guessed that Jordan Johnson’s name would be on the list.

Last year, while the offensive receivers were struggling to get open and create separation a lot of people were wondering where Jordan Johnson was at, and when he would get his shot.

The shot never came for the talented freshman wide receiver. He got some snaps, but no receptions for the year. Coach Kelly mentioned to the media that he did not play because he was struggling to grasp the playbook. Kelly seems like he really never trusts freshman receivers, so that could be a reason why he never got into the rotation.

The good news now is that Jordan Johnson is not a freshman anymore. There was a lot of hype surrounding Johnson in the program for some time, even before he stepped foot on campus for the first time.

Johnson has the physical tools to succeed at the wide receiver position standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing about 200 pounds. He has the speed, size, and route running and you can see why Kelly wanted him in blue and gold. The Missouri native was ranked coming out of high school by major recruiting sites as being a four or five-star recruit.

The Irish will have spots up for grabs as wide receivers Ben Skowronek, and Javon McKinley are no longer in the program.

Johnson is a playmaker and has the potential to be included with some of the best wide receivers that Kelly has had at Notre Dame. He will help prove this season why he was ranked so high coming out of high school, so expect big things from in 2021.
