Big 12 Football best players of all-time: 4. Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska football

When the name Ndamukong Suh is mentioned, there could be several different emotions that come up. If you’re a fan of him or any of the teams he has played for, you probably get excited about what he brings to the field. If you aren’t a fan, you surely think of all the times there’s been some yellow laundry on the field from a play that was deemed “dirty.”

Either way, you have to admit he’s a player who has always moved the needle. Suh has been in the NFL now for 11 years and just won a Super Bowl with the Rampa Bay Buccaneers. His longevity is impressive but he’s also a player who has lived up to the hype he created during a great collegiate career with the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

After redshirting as a freshman in 2005, Suh started to see the field a lot for Nebraska and flashed his potential early. He had just 19 tackles as a redshirt freshman but seven of those were for a loss and 3.5 were sacks. He also added an interception, which was one of four that he had in his career.

Suh really took off in his final two seasons, posting 76 tackles, 16 for a loss, 7.5 sacks, two interceptions, and two touchdowns in 2008. Then in 2009, he had 85 tackles, 20.5 for a loss, and 12 tackles with another pick. His numbers seemed made up at times, but Suh was a larger-than-life athlete who wound up being selected at No. 2 overall by the Detroit Lions.
