Big 12 Football best players of all-time: 43. Corey Coleman, WR, Baylor football

When the name Corey Coleman is said, there will be those who remember him for nothing other than his ‘Hard Knocks’ fame. A first-round pick of the Cleveland Browns in 2016, Coleman was on the HBO series in 2018 and things didn’t go well for him.

Coleman was demoted during that camp and went straight to Hue Jackson — the head coach at the time — for answers. Jackson did as he always does, and passed the blame, but Coleman then pleaded with the coach wondering why they won’t trade him. The exchange was rather interesting and is transcribed by Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.

“Why am I running second team?” Coleman asks him.

"“What did you say?” Jackson responds. “Why am I running second team?” Coleman repeats. “That s—‘s crazy. “Go ask (offensive coordinator) Todd (Haley),”  Jackson says. “If you don’t want me to play, why won’t y’all just trade me?”"

Coleman got his wish and was later traded to the Buffalo Bills who cut him less than a month later. Since then, he’s managed just five receptions in the league which gives him the dreaded bust label. For anyone who watched him at Baylor, this is beyond shocking.

While with the Bears, Coleman was unstoppable. He finished his three-year career with 3,009 yards and 33 touchdowns — including 20 as a junior. He was a speedster who could run any route. There was nothing Coleman couldn’t do and that gets him the nod on our list here.
