Games 5-8

Western Kentucky: Win

For the first time in their 2021 season so far, Michigan State will secure a winning record. They will do so with a convincing win over the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. The margin of victory for the Spartans will probably end up being narrower than it should be, but I refuse to humor the possibility of WKU winning this game until I know what in the world a “hilltopper” is.

Rutgers: Win

The win streak for Michigan State bumps up to three as they face off against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in New Jersey. Similar to the Western Kentucky matchup, MSU is unlikely to win this game by as much as it should, which will lead to crowds chanting “overrated” until they lose to a team with some actual street cred.

Indiana: Loss

The Indiana Hoosiers are not usually the team that would come to mind when trying to think of one with some aforementioned college football street cred. However, they will certainly prove the claims of Michigan State being overrated right.

Indiana is at home, and facing a program that has not yet won a single game of true validity. Not to mention that the Hoosiers themselves are also quite good, as of last year. So IU will deal a hefty hit to MSU’s solid 4-2 record.

Michigan: Loss

Every single aspect of this meeting points to Michigan State coming out on top. The game is in East Lansing, the Spartans won the meeting between the two rivals in 2020, and MSU is coming off of a bye week.

But the Wolverines have one thing that MSU does not, and that is the superior football team. Michigan State will play competitively, but Michigan will ultimately walk out of Spartan Stadium with a win decided by somewhere around 10 points.
