Wake Forest Football: 2021 game-by-game predictions for Demon Deacons
By Austin Lloyd
Games 9-12
North Carolina: Loss
It is very bold of Wake Forest to play UNC on the road for their fourth out-of-conference slot instead of another no-name weakling at home. But unfortunately for the Deacs, boldness rarely means anything good in regards to a team’s record. The Tar Heels will be victorious over WF, presumably by at least two touchdowns.
North Carolina State: Loss
You know what never helps a team after losing a deathmatch to a rival? Facing off against another rival the very next week, especially one as good as the Wolfpack is right now.
This game was competitive last year and it certainly will be this year also, but NC State is merely the better squad and will survive the Demon Deacons by anywhere from 10 to 17 points.
Clemson: Loss
Two tiringly heartbreaking defeats against in-state rivals, all followed by a visit to Clemson to face the powerhouse Tigers? Death Valley will remind the world how it got its nickname on November 20th, that is for sure.
Boston College: Loss
Upon first impressions, Wake would normally stand a very strong chance of winning this game, even with it being in Chestnut Hill. But after three terrible losses, and with the Eagles finishing with a stout 6-5 record in 2020, it just feels a little far-fetched.
After dropping their last four regular-season games, the Wake Forest Demon Deacons will just barely scrape bowl eligibility with an even 6-6 record. Regardless of their bowl game’s outcome, it is still another postseason appearance for the Deacs under HC Dave Clawson, which will headline their 2021 performance.
