30 best college football quarterbacks of all-time: 22. Colt Brennan, Hawaii football

College stats:

  • 14,193 passing yards
  • 131 TDs
  • 42 INTs
  • 70.4 completion percentage

Colt Brennan is a name that many fans will quickly do a google search on. Such is the case when a college QB fails to have even a modicum of success at the next level.

Regardless of shortcomings in the NFL, Brennan was a monster at Hawaii. When taking a look at his numbers, they seem almost cartoonish. In his first year under center, Brennan torched defenses for 4,301 passing yards. He also tossed in 35 touchdowns and only 17 picks.

While the numbers you are about to read off from his second year as the signal-caller may seem erroneous, we can assure you that they are actually true. In Brennan’s second full year with the team he threw for 5,549 yards. He also connected with receivers 72.6 percent of the time. In terms of touchdowns, it was ridiculous. Brennan threw for 58 of them with only 12 interceptions. His senior year was impressive as well but it was that second year that was the jaw-dropper.

Brennan was consistently in the Heisman Trophy discussion and won plenty of games during his time in Hawaii. He never led his team to the big dance however and he has to be held responsible for that. In the 2007 Sugar Bowl, Hawaii was blown out 41-10 to Georgia in what would have been a signature win for his program.

Still, he may not have won at the highest of levels but in terms of individual play, few could compare.
