Coming out of high school, Doug Flutie didn’t have a ton of options. In fact, Boston College was the only Division I school to come knocking at his door. Those who passed on him are probably jobless right now as he went on to have one of the greatest careers ever.

Flutie took home the Heisman Trophy, Maxwell Award and a plethora of other awards during his four years there. Although he only had one season in which he threw for over 3,400 yards, he simply didn’t play in an error in which he was required to throw the ball up and down the field.

With that said, he was given one opportunity to do just that and it is by far the most memorable play of his career.

At roughly the 50 yard line with six seconds left on the clock and down by four against Miami, Flutie dropped back, scrambled around to buy time and heaved it downfield. The ball was caught in the end zone and Flutie hasn’t been forgotten since. So of course, which such an iconic play under his belt and great numbers during his time in college, we made sure that he received his just due on this list as well.
