The name Matt Leinart oftentimes gets forgotten in the discussion of the greatest college quarterback of all-time. After all, he didn’t have a distinguished career in the NFL but that shouldn’t take away from what he was able to do as a college player over at USC.
Leinart really got off to a hot start the moment he stepped onto the field. His first year saw him put up over 3,500 yards with 38 touchdowns against only nine interceptions. After running through teams that year, USC finished number one in the AP and coaches poll. They would later go on to win the Rose Bowl and Leihart took home the MVP award.
The following year, Leinart would put up similar numbers along with similar success and would be rewarded for his efforts with the Heisman trophy. Leinart would dominate that year and brought home the BCS National title in the process. Several years later, that title was later vacated due to a cheating scandal that centered on running back Reggie Bush.
Nevertheless, we all remember what Leinart was able to accomplish in his career, regardless of the powers that be trying to erase what we all saw, we still remember it.
