College football: Ranking every Heisman Trophy winner

10. Ranking every Heisman Trophy Winner: O.J. Simpson, USC Trojans football
Long before he was on television racing down the highway in a white bronco, O.J. Simpson was a star running back for the USC Trojans. After transferring to the school prior to the 1967 college football season, Simpson stepped into a leading role for the Trojans, putting together one of the better two-year stretches of any running back up until that point.
In 1967, Simpson led the nation in rushing with over 1,500 yards, setting the stage for what would be a memorable senior year. Before we get there, it is widely argued that Simpson should have won the Heisman Trophy his junior season as well but Gary Beban got away with one of the biggest heists this award has ever seen.
Shifting focus to Simpson’s senior season, the “Juice” went wild, rushing for over 1,700 yards this time, and leading the Trojans to a 9-0-1 record. While they fell short of a second straight national title, USC did get to see their star take home the Heisman Trophy, and he did it in style, winning by the highest margin up until that point.
For his career at USC, Simpson appeared in only 22 games, but he rushed for over 3,200 yards and found the end zone 36 times. From there, he would go on to be the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills and have a Hall of Fame NFL career, but his life after football has been marred by way too many issues to discuss.
