6. Ranking every Heisman Trophy Winner: Tim Tebow, Florida Gators football

In the history of the Heisman Trophy, there has been only one man that has won multiple awards, and that was Ohio State running back Archie Griffin back in the mid-1970s. However, for a while there, it looked like another player would accomplish the feat, especially after Florida quarterback Tim Tebow became the first sophomore to win the Heisman Trophy back in 2007.

After playing a key role in the Gators’ national title run the year before as a true freshman, Tebow took the helm of Urban Meyer’s offense for the 2007 college football season. After taking over, Tebow became a national sensation, following up his 22-touchdown effort as a true freshman to rack up 51 touchdowns on the ground and through the air.

Those are the kind of numbers that win you a Heisman Trophy, and when it came time to give out the award, he had beaten out Arkansas star running back Darren McFadden. During that magical run, Tebow threw for 3,132 yards and 29 touchdowns against only six interceptions, while racking up over 800 yards and 22 scores on the ground.

The following two seasons, Tebow had a legitimate chance to win the Heisman Trophy again but came up short to Sam Bradford in 2008 and then Mark Ingram in 2009. Still, this is a guy who won multiple national titles, re-wrote the record books at a program and national level. To a man, you would be hard-pressed to find a better complete resume than the one Tebow put up at Florida.
