1. Wyatt Hubert, DE, Kansas State

Wyatt Hubert is just a good football player. He plays with heart, he plays with emotion, and he has a will to win. All of my thoughts on Hubert can be summed in in a simple eight word tweet:

Hubert played three years for the Wildcats. His 20 sacks are tied for seventh all time in Kansas State history. He likely wiped have broken the record had he returned in 2021 in what would have been a strong follow up to his All-Big 12 selection.

Instead, Hubert is heading to the NFL. Hubert is another guy you’ll hear the “high motor” term attached to. His play results in good a lot of times, but also has a history of missing tackles and being out of position. He doesn’t change direction well.

His arm length is going to be a question for some people at the next level. His arms were measured at 30 inches during the Senior Bowl.

Hubert’s best quality, as seen by his sack total, is getting to the quarterback. He can get under the offensive tackle instead of matching strength, which is a definite plus if scouts make the arm length argument, he has a great ability to throw the quarterback off his game force bad and awkward throws.

Hubert probably would have benefitted from returning to Kansas State next year. But his decision to move on might prove to be worth it if he’s selected in a good spot. Even late, a team like the Kansas City Chiefs or Buffalo Bills would be ideal. Hubert needs to land where he can get playing time in non-critical moments early on.

Hubert might go down as the most underrated player in the entire draft.
