I know what you’re already thinking: why the heck would Texas A&M target a quarterback transfer when the Aggies have Zach Calzada, Haynes King and Eli Stowers?

The easy answer? There are no quarterbacks with any experience currently on the roster. King only threw four passes last season behind Kellen Mond while Calzada didn’t attempt a single one. And Stowers is an incoming freshman who could make some noise but you can bet Jimbo Fisher wants to compete for a playoff spot again and the current quarterback room may not allow that.

The lack of experience may set the Aggies back a year.

In order to avoid that setback in 2021, adding a quarterback with experience and who has shown flashes in the past would be a good step.

N’Kosi Perry is a former top-200 recruit from Florida who was recruited by the likes of Auburn, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee so this shows that he’s capable of playing in the SEC. He had a bumpy road in Miami, but with the right coaching, he could be one of the better dual-threats in the country.

Jimbo Fisher could fix his throwing motion and accuracy and if he can complete closer to 55-60 percent of this throws (as opposed to 52 percent), he could be a legit starter in the SEC. Plus he has the ability to run effectively and has plenty of size.

If nothing else, this will bolster Texas A&M football’s QB room and add a much-needed veteran.
