When Tommy Bush was a high school recruit back in the 2018 recruiting class, you would have been hard-pressed to find a program in college football that wasn’t after him. In fact, he had over 45 offers at the Division 1 level and the fight for his services went down to the wire.

In the end, it was Georgia who would out in the recruitment for the Schertz, Texas, native over the likes of Baylor, Ole Miss, Texas, and Michigan State but since he hasn’t seen the field much in two years, there aren’t exactly going to be three-dozen schools calling for him. He will still generate plenty of interest because he’s a former top-200 recruit with a 6-5 frame but this is the perfect opportunity for Notre Dame to throw its name in the hat.

As I’ve said, Bush has a great frame for a receiver at 6-5 and 195 pounds so the fact that he hasn’t seen the field much since getting to college is a real head-scratcher.

Notre Dame had an issue with receiver depth last season and couldn’t seem to land on a true No. 1 receiver outside of maybe Javon McKinley. Now McKinley is gone and so is Ben Skowronek which means the Irish will have to find a true go-to target. Could that be Braden Lenzy, Kevin Austin, Jordan Johnson or some incoming prospects?

Why not add a guy like Bush who has the tools and just needs the right opportunity?
