USC Football: 3 players Trojans should target in 2021 transfer portal
If you’ve been paying attention to USC’s offseason, you would realize that the Trojans lost a couple of depth pieces at linebacker in Ma’a Gaoteote (a four-star commit) and Palaie Gaoteote, a former five-star and brother of the incoming recruit.
Ma’a signed with Michigan State and Palaie is still looking for a new home, but they leave a couple of voids on USC’s depth chart at the linebacker spots.
Ayodele Adeoye could be an option for the Trojans as he’s one of the best linebackers on the market and can play inside. The Trojans could be set in the starting lineup with no starters leaving, but why not add some talented depth to the two-deep? Adeoye would be the best-case scenario addition but it may not be likely because he’s not looking to be a backup.
Could he contend for a starting job? Absolutely, but the uncertainty might keep him away.
Still, Clay Helton needs to upgrade each position to remain in the Pac-12 title hunt with Oregon which may be the most loaded team in the conference. Adeoye would be an immediate upgrade.
