QB. North Dakota State. Trey Lance. 15. 47. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. player

Bill Belichick may not have gotten the production he wanted out of the quarterback position with Cam Newton running the show in 2020, but he wanted the veteran quarterback to return in 2021 because he was good in the locker room and will help add depth to the position group.

Will Newton start in 2021? It’s looking very possible, but adding Trey Lance here would give the Patriots some options.

It’s tough to see Lance fall all the way to No. 15 in this year’s draft, but with Mac Jones going No. 3 to the 49ers and Justin Fields getting scooped up by the Broncos at No. 9, there’s really no one between 10-14 that desperately needs a quarterback. If Lance doesn’t go in the top 10, I think he falls into the Patriots’ lap at No. 15.

Belichick could work wonders with the North Dakota State star. He was quite the dual-threat with the Bison, passing for 2,786 yards and 28 touchdowns with zero interceptions as a sophomore in 2019. He also rushed for 1,100 yards and 14 touchdowns before opting out of the 2020 season.

New England’s offense could get the boost it needs with this pick.
