No. 4 Dolphins

This offseason has been crucial for the Miami Dolphins and their devotion to second-year quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

The Dolphins have changed their offensive schemes, dropped some dead weight, as well as adding protection and skilled players for their passing game. This draft was crucial as they needed to make careful selections on both sides of the ball to get back into the playoffs despite Miami winning 10 games last season.

The Dolphins needed a No. 1 receiver for Tua and they believe reuniting him with Alabama’s Jaylen Waddle will be a huge significance with the sixth overall pick.

Waddle is one of the most explosive and dynamic wide receivers in this 2021 draft class. He will be able to bring some explosive capabilities to the passing offense. With the Dolphins’ other first-round pick, they were able to get a young and explosive pass rusher in Miami’s Jaelin Phillips. He will be the replacement to the departing veterans and be able to become a leader of the defense.

Miami split their two second-round picks again between offense and defense. The Dolphins were able to draft Oregon safety Jevon Holland with the 36th overall pick and Notre Dame offensive tackle Liam Eichenberg with the 42nd overall pick.

Holland will be a solid contributor as a nickel and free safety, which will have to provide a solid transition. Eichenberg becomes another young and efficient offensive lineman to protect Tagovailoa from constant pressure.

In the third round, the Dolphins acquired another weapon in the passing game with Boston College tight end Hunter Long with the 81st overall pick. Long will be a solid playmaker with the first-string tight end they have in Mike Gesicki.

Their last two picks came in the seventh round with both of them on the offensive side of the ball. The Dolphins drafted another tackle in Larnel Coleman from UMass with the 231st overall pick and Cincinnati running back Gerrid Doaks with the 244th overall pick.
