ACC Football: Every team’s most important newcomers for 2021

Virginia Tech Hokies (5-6)
The Hokies have been busy on both ends of the portal. Virginia Tech lost quarterbacks Hendon Hooker and Quincy Patterson to the portal and added seven players. However, the Hokies have some critical other pieces to replace this season.
Christian Darrisaw, Khalil Herbert, and Caleb Farley are all off to the NFL draft this season, and head coach Justin Fuente needs to fill those holes. However, these three players could help next season.
- Johnny Jordan (transfer), OC: Though Jordan does not directly address the need to tackle Christian Darrisaw, Jordan gives the Hokies versatility on the offensive interior. Offensive lineman Brock Hoffman can move to tackle or guard if Jordan wins the job at center. If Hoffman beats out Jordan, then Jordan can move next to him at guard.
- Connor Blumrick (transfer), QB: Blumrick is an interesting prospect for Virginia Tech. On the surface, Blumrick’s transfer is competition for Braxton Burmeister, with both Hendon Hooker and Quincy Patterson transferring in the offseason. However, Blumrick has not played quarterback in two years. While at Texas A&M, Blumrick played some running back and special teams. That athleticism could be a deciding factor between him and Burmeister.
- Jordan Williams (transfer), DT: Williams adds size to a defensive front that allowed nearly 190 rushing yards per game last season. The Clemson transfer also adds much-needed depth. Williams has the ability to play over the center or the guard. With all the Clemson Tigers’ talent during his time there, it was going to be hard for Williams to get snaps consistently. However, that will change at Virginia Tech. Expect Williams to have a big year for the Hokies.
