Justin Fields (Quarterback) – Chicago Bears

In just one move, the Chicago Bears might have potentially saved their season by trading up to the 11th overall to get Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields. Bears Nation was heavily displeased with the lack of progress to obtain Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson via trade or another high-profile via free agency. After lucking out and getting Andy Dalton, general manager Ryan Pace and head coach Matt Nagy.

The move for Fields not only gives them a franchise option for the future but he gives the Bears a legitimate shot for the NFC North title.

For the past four seasons, the Bears have been playing mediocre offense to where their defense has to carry them into playoff contention or the playoffs. Last season, the Bears’ offense ranked 22nd in the league in points per game (23.2), 26th in total yards per game (331.4), and 22nd in passing yards per game (228.4). This was with the Bears shuffling around at quarterback between the Bears’ former first-round pick in Mitchell Trubisky and Nick Foles.

Fields is a more dynamic and athletic playmaker and he has shown to be a more capable passer. He possesses a strong arm and impressive accuracy. He will need time to learn the NFL system and Bears’ offensive schemes. He will also complement the talent at the skill positions Chicago currently possesses.

There will more than likely be a tremendous difference between the efficiency between Fields under center than Trubisky or Foles in the first season. The impact will see a potential offensive rookie of the year performance for the Bears for the first time since running back Anthony Thomas in 2001.
