5. Davis Mills, No. 67 to the Texans

After the top five quarterbacks were taken in the first round, it was anyone’s guess who was the next one to be off the board. It was thought that the next group of quarterbacks were more developmental and better suited to be picked on the third day.

The Houston Texans did not have a first or second-round pick due to the trade for offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil and it was unknown what direction Houston would go with so many needs on their roster. When they took Stanford quarterback Davis Mills, it was seen as an odd move. While it is uncertain whether Deshaun Watson plays or not, Mills is a very raw prospect.

Mills only started 11 career games at Stanford and he never flashed the talent that made him a five-star recruit coming out of high school.

There is some physical talent with Mills, but he is nowhere near ready to be an NFL starter and with a team that has so many other needs, this was a bad pick and one of the biggest reaches of the draft.
