4-star DT Alex VanSumeren

As important as it is for Nebraska football to recruit the state of Nebraska really well, the Huskers also have to do well in the surrounding states.

In the 2021 recruiting class, Nebraska went into Michigan and landed defensive tackle Ru’Quan Buckley and in 2022, the Huskers are hoping to do the same with Alex VanSumeren.

VanSumeren is a former Michigan commit, who recently included Nebraska in his top list which also includes Alabama, Clemson, Texas A&M, Michigan State, Penn State, Indiana, Oregon, Arizona, and Auburn.

That’s a big list, with some elite programs on it. However, VanSumeren hasn’t announced his visit schedule yet. He was in East Lansing for the Spartans spring game but his five official visits will tell the tale.

He’s 6-foot-3, 300 pounds, and ranked 177th in the 2022 class. He’s also been compared to Kenny Clark and would be a great fit on the defensive line.
