3-star CB James Monds III

As I said earlier, recruiting rankings don’t mean everything. They also change frequently. Coaches have to trust their evaluations and there are times when a coaching staff is higher on a recruit than his ranking indicates they should be.

James Monds III is one of those recruits.

The Fort Pierce, Florida prospect has been on the Huskers’ radar from the jump in 2022 and he told 247 sports this week, Nebraska football coaches are in touch with him daily. They also have a very specific vision for his role in the program.

"“The recruit has said Husker coaches communicate with him on almost a daily basis. ‘Their pitch to me about Nebraska is I can come and be the next big thing there. I could be the next corner like how they have Cam (Taylor-Britt) going.'”"

Monds is also a legacy. He’s the nephew of Wonder Monds, an All-American for the Huskers in the 1970s. He’s 5-foot-10, 177 pounds, and ranked 805th overall. He’s got one crystal ball for Michigan State and one for Nebraska.

His current visit schedule includes three Big Ten teams: Wisconsin, Indiana, and Nebraska but not Michigan State. And with the way the Huskers have prioritized him, they are in a solid position.

Each of these recruiting battles will take work to win, but four of the five have already set up official visits, which means Nebraska football is within striking distance of a commitment.
