Syracuse Orange: Jim Brown, RB

Many will go as far as to tell you that Jim Brown is not just the greatest running back ever, he is the greatest football player ever. While I disagree with both proclamations, he is nonetheless the greatest Syracuse player ever, and that will probably never change.

Especially for his time period, Jim Brown was an iconic figure within the National Football League both during and beyond his 9-season career with the Cleveland Browns.

This stretch saw him win the NFL Championship in 1964, be selected for nine All-Pro titles (eight of which were first-team), and nine Pro Bowls. Oh, and to put some icing on the cake, he was also the regular season MVP on three separate occasions.

At Syracuse, Brown worked his way up to becoming a unanimous All-American and, similarly to his #32 with the Browns, had his #44 for the Orange eventually retired. Lastly, he was given the official title of Greatest College Football Player Ever in 2020.

To put it simply, Jim Brown could play some football.
