Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets: Calvin Johnson, WR

For a second, when I saw that Georgia Tech was up next on this list, I was scared of having to go back to the 1920s to find their king. However, I then remembered that its greatest talent, and arguably one of the greatest that even the NFL has ever seen, played as recently as 2015.

Calvin “Megatron” Johnson, despite only playing for nine seasons (and all of them being with the Detroit Lions), is always in the discussion for being the greatest wide receiver of all time. If anything can illustrate his greatness with words, it’s that statement.

But nonetheless, let’s throw in some stats anyway. Throughout his NFL career, Johnson was a 6x Pro Bowl selection, 4x All-Pro selection, and 2x NFL receiving yards leader, among other accolades.

His accomplishments while at Georgia Tech are arguably just as impressive, especially when considering the standard at GT: 2x All-American and 3x All-ACC, all of which were first-team. He was also known for his rare combination of size and speed all throughout his playing days.

To summarize, Calvin Johnson is one of the biggest “what-ifs” in football history, at both the collegiate and professional levels (most namely in regards to: what if he was on a different team?).
