Louisville Cardinals: Johnny Unitas, QB

Similar to some of the other schools that we have seen before now, there really was not any other choice for who deserves this title (at least until further notice) than the Baltimore/Indianapolis Colts legend Johnny Unitas.

A game-changing quarterback for his time, Unitas is still highly regarded as one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game. Statistically, he was a total gunslinger for his era, surpassing 40,000 career passing yards over a span that ended in 1973.

Along with success through the air, Unitas won three NFL Championships and Super Bowl V and was selected to 10–yes, 10–Pro Bowls, which is a number that has rarely been matched or surpassed ever since his days in the league.

Looking at his college tenure, the Cardinals were not overly relevant with Unitas orchestrating their offense. As a result, he was not selected in the 1955 NFL Draft until the 102nd overall pick rolled around. However, I think it is pretty clear who got the last laugh.
