North Carolina Tar Heels: Lawrence Taylor, LB

Playing in the National Football League from 1981 to 1993, Lawrence Taylor was not only a revolutionary talent that forever altered the intimidation factor of the linebacker position, but also the face of the NFL altogether.

Throughout his professional football days, Taylor won two Super Bowls and was a 10-time selection in both All-Pro titles and Pro Bowls. He was also a 3x NFL Defensive Player of the Year and the regular-season MVP in 1986.

LT’s dominance showed up long before his NFL career, though. At North Carolina, he was a unanimous All-American his senior year and turned enough heads to be selected with the 2nd overall pick in the 1981 draft.

Lawrence Taylor is arguably the greatest linebacker to play the game of football, most likely being in competition with the aforementioned Miami Hurricane Ray Lewis among fans and critics alike for the title.
