Notre Dame Football: 3 potential post-spring 2021 transfer targets
As a player who never really lived up to his recruiting ranking at Ohio State, a change of scenery may be just what Tyreke Johnson needs.
The former five-star defensive back was part of the Buckeyes’ 2018 class and played in just four career games, recording eight total tackles. He didn’t look like a former five-star but he also didn’t get a ton of opportunities to prove himself in live action. Maybe he struggled a bit in practice, but in the right program, he could be a star.
When he hit the market last week, Brian Kelly should have perked up a bit at the idea of adding him to the secondary.
Notre Dame’s defensive backfield looks a little thin for the 2021 season but adding Johnson to push for a starting spot can only help. He was a top target for the Irish a few years ago before committing to Ohio State and he held just about every major offer you could imagine.
I find it hard to believe he just “isn’t good” because he has all the potential in the world and just needs the right coaching and program to put it all together.
Notre Dame could be the perfect fit.
