8. Scott Frost (Nebraska)

I am including Scott Frost on this list by default as almost everyone outside of Nebraska believes he is on the hot seat.

Yes, Frost has been disappointing. The hometown kid from the glory days of Nebraska football who was supposed to save the program only has a 12-20 record in his first three seasons, leaving many to wonder what happened.

In his last season as head coach at UCF, the Knights were the top-scoring team in the country with 48.2 points per game. However, in 2020, the Cornhuskers averaged only 23.4 points per game, which was the lowest during his tenure in an albeit shortened season.

Scott Frost’s results mostly have been tied to the up and down play of quarterback Adrian Martinez who has been there throughout Frost’s tenure. That said, the Cornhuskers often have been competitive this past season.

In reality, fans have some optimism that the team is heading in the right direction. The defense has been good. Recruiting is going well. Honestly, Frost just needs one big win to get things going.

Simply put, Frost is their guy. Nebraska has been through too many head coaches who had too high expectations to just give up on him now.

As long as the Huskers show some improvement and finally make a bowl game, Frost will be safe. Anything less and Frost will start to feel the heat.
