2. Having the edge on SEC East competitors

In order to win the SEC title, you have to get to the game first. This season, Georgia is favored to win the SEC East for the fourth time in the last five years.

It won’t be an easy road to the division title though. Teams in the East such as Tennessee and South Carolina will give Georgia some challenges this season.

While anyone can beat anyone in the SEC, there is one team that will provide the biggest threat to the Dawgs in the East: the Florida Gators.

The Gators are coming off an up and down 2020. They won the SEC East and beat Georgia for the first time since 2016, but they also finished the year losing three straight games, including being crushed by Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl.

They also lost their two best players in Kyle Pitts and Kyle Trask to the NFL. Pitts was the best tight end in the nation, catching 12 touchdowns in only eight games, as well as becoming the highest-drafted tight end in NFL history when the Atlanta Falcons took him at No. 4 overall.

Trask was a Heisman finalist who threw for 4,283 yards and 43 touchdowns last season. He was taken in the second round by the defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Though Florida does have players poised to step up, it will be hard to replace that kind of production in your offense. There are also questions surrounding their defense, as the Gators ranked 83rd in total defense last season.

Georgia meanwhile ranked 12th in total defense last season, and they will be returning starters such as Jordan Davis, Julian Rochester, Lewis Cine, and others. Georgia seems to have the advantage against Florida on offense and defense, but the only way we will know who has the better team will be when the two face off in Jacksonville on Oct. 30.
